I wonder how many people in this city

September 14, 2010

I wonder how many people in this city

live in furnished rooms.

Late at night when i look out at the buildings

I swear I see a face in every window

looking back at me

and when I turn away

I wonder how many go back to their desks

and write this down.

 ~Leon Cohen

When I read the poetry, I felt as if the question is being asked to people like us. We fail to write down what we feel many times. We are susceptible to the reception that we will get on writing down our deepest feelings. Why the fear? For what? For whom we are bothered so much? A powerful urge surges within to liberate the soul from all the fears of the world.

One moment we are here, and another moment we will be gone. And for this simple moment, how much fuss we make — how much violence, ambition, struggle, conflict, anger, hatred.

Why can’t we make our lives more simple. It is not always bad to go with the flow instead of resisting it to show our prowesses. Let us not be afraid of failing. Failing and falling is not so bad after all.
