वास्तव में इस ग्रह में जीवन के उद्भव का प्रश्न एक गहन रहस्य है। शुरुआत में इस ग्रह में जीवन का उद्भव कैसे हुआ? मानव चेतना के विकास के समय से ही लोग इस प्रश्न का उत्तर ढूंढ रहें हैं। उस समय के उपलब्ध ज्ञान और अपनी कल्पनाशक्ति के अनुसार लोग जीवन के उत्पत्ति की व्याख्या करते आए हैं। जीवन के उत्पत्ति के समय की स्थिति और रसायनिक प्रतिक्रियाओं के सम्बन्ध में कई सिद्धांत और अवधारणाएँ वैज्ञानिकों ने दी हैं। हमें यह भी आभाष है कि वे सिद्धांत और अवधारनाएँ किसी दिन एक शून्य में परिवर्तित हो सकती हैं और वे एक परीकथा  से ज़्यादा नहीं रहेंगी जब नए खोज और नए साक्ष्य सामने प्रकट होंगे । हमें विज्ञान द्वारा खोजे गए अत्यल्प ज्ञान का भी एहसास है इस विशाल अज्ञात और अनन्वेषित ज्ञान क्षेत्र की तुलना में। हमें वैज्ञानिक प्रवृति द्वारा मानवीय खोजों के प्रयास की दुखद सीमितताओं का भी एहसास है। ये एक सतत संघर्ष है जिसके द्वारा मानवीय ज्ञान का विस्तार होता है। इन सब के बावजूद हमें गहन प्रेम है मानव मन के इस संघर्ष और प्रयास से जिसके द्वारा मानवीय चेतना का क्षेत्र विकसित होता है और जिसका लाभ सिर्फ समाज के एक सिमित हिस्से को ही नहीं बल्कि सम्पूर्ण मानवता को और इसके आने वाली पीढ़ियों को भी होता है। जब कभी हम ज्ञान की खोज के प्रयास में एक लौह दीवार को अपने सामने पाते हैं उस समय हम अपनी आँखे बंद करके अपनी विफलताओं और मानवीय क्षमता की सीमितताओं को किसी काल्पनिक और अलौकिक ईश्वर का नाम देकर इससे मुख नहीं मोड़ सकते हैं। नित नए ज्ञान की खोज का प्रयास हमेशा से ही सबसे महत्वपूर्ण चीज रही थी, है, और आगे भी रहेगी। आइए हम सभी ये प्रयास करें।

Off course, there are great mysteries in the fundamental question of introduction of life on this planet. How did the initial life form come into existence? From the beginning of humans consciousness, people are trying to search for the answer for this question and explain this to the best of their faculties with the available knowledge of the time and to the best of their power of imagination. There have been theories and hypotheses proposed by various scientists predicting the conditions on earth when life would have had come into existence and the likely chemical reactions at the time. We know that many of the existing theories and hypotheses may simply come to naught and may just remain to be a fairy tale subsequently when new discoveries are made, new theories are proposed and new evidences come into light. We appreciate the great swathe of territory of unknown and unexplored compared to the tiny amount of knowledge gained by science. We also appreciate the painful limitations that is very often faced by humans in its endeavor for search of knowledge through scientific methods. It’s a continuous struggle for the search of knowledge by which the human consciousness expands its limits. Despite all this, we have immense love for this struggle and effort of human mind which broadens the realms of human knowledge and which benefits not only a limited part of society but entire humanity for generations to come. We can’t simply close our eyes when we are faced with an iron wall in search of our knowledge and assign our failures or limitation of human faculty to some unknown supernatural god. The most important thing was, is and will always be struggle to acquire new knowledge. Let’s strive for this.
